Born in Honolulu, Hawaii, Betsy attended the University of California at Berkeley and received an A.B. degree in Anthropology. She was later awarded an academic scholarship and attended the Southern Methodist University School of Law, where she received her J.D. degree. After graduation she was an Assistant City Attorney for the City of Fort Worth, before joining Fielding Barrett & Taylor, LLP in 1988.

Betsy’s primary area of practice is municipal law, with emphasis on open government issues, annexation, election law and economic development. She is currently serving as Supervising City Attorney to the cities of Aledo, Benbrook, Richland Hills, and River Oaks. Major economic development projects include the Mansfield National Golf Course, Big League Dreams in Mansfield, Joshua Station in Joshua, South Pointe in Mansfield and The Fieldhouse in Mansfield.
